Drama Dialogue Writing Prompts

1. Important Object

Write a scene centered on an object of great importance to every character. Each character only speaks when holding the object.

2. Quiet Scene

Write a scene featuring two people having an urgent discussion in a place that requires silence (a funeral, church, a presentation, an execution, etc.)

3. Overlapping Dialogue

Write a scene that has two different conversations happening on separate parts of the stage. The conversations must overlap at least once.

4. No Dialogue

Write a scene or short piece with no dialogue that still contains essential action or reveals something about a character.

5. Monologue

Write a piece that is entirely monologue.
