Middle School Creative Writing Scene Prompts


1. Scene Writing Prompt

Write a scene between a boyfriend and girlfriend that takes place inside a 7-Eleven.

2. Dialogue Writing Topic

Write a dialogue that takes place entirely in a note that is being passed back and forth between two girls in class. One of them has a secret that she's trying to keep hidden.

3. Dance Scene Writing Prompt

Write a scene that takes place at a school dance. Come up with characters that would be there and how they might interact. (For example, two people that like each other but don't know how to approach each other, or two people that used to date and accidentally run into each other.)

4. Point Of View Prompt

Write a scene from the point of view of a kid being picked on or beaten up by a bully. Then write the same scene from the point of view of the bully. In each draft try to make the narrator sympathetic.

5. Inanimate Object Writing Idea

Write a scene from the perspective of an old man's walking stick.
